A lot of people on my flist are joining multiple journals, so, I'm simplysly.insanejournal.com

*shrugs* I don't really think that I'll be suspended anytime here soon, but, you know, just in case.  And mostly to keep up with those who are completely moving.

Subject:Tomorrow, my dear friends!

I shall be posting for Blogathon 2007.  For 24 hours, starting at 6am PDT, I shall stay awake and post every half hour or so on my new-just-for-this journal, [info]bloging2007.  This new journal is so that anyone who doesn't really care, or want to follow, won't have their flists spammed with the minimum of 48 posts.  Of course, you are more than welcome to friend me (really!  please!), but you don't have to.  I promise not to really care either way.

Some of these posts will be story snippets, others will be random observations of Life, the Universe and Everything (including, but not limited to, a possible discussion on the merits of 42).

I hope to make them enjoyable, and not tedious, although with my sense of humor sometimes it really is both.  But, yeah, if I'm slow to do anything else tomorrow, this is why.

Peace out and such.

Subject:Is anyone alive out there?

Please, someone, be awake. And tell me no, that it's a no good, horrible bad idea and I should just forget all about it. Or watch, but not participate.

What am I talking about? The Blogathon 2007. Where you stay up for 24 hours, blogging every half hour. Obviously, I would make a separate journal for this, so as not to spam unnecessarily, but still.

And they want sponsors. And really, I've faced it, I'm horrible at finding people to give me money/money for something I've done. So, um, it really is a bad idea for me. But still! I sorta want to do it.

Why is no one online? Please, someone, talk me out of this.

ETA: I have made a new journal, just for blogging on the 28th. It's [info]bloging2007.

So, this is supposed to be a debate, right? You know, to help people narrow down who should be president? What is up with CNN showing that clip? Bloody hell people. Get with the program all ready. There is a time and a place for this. And guess what, it's not during a debate.

You know, the debate wasn't really even officially a debate? The only real 'winner' was YouTube. So messed up. And people wonder why I'm never really happy about voting.

Yay! I'm back!  Cause the DHL guy came today.  I professed my love, but he only laughed.  *tear*  Ah well.  In any case, *hugs interwebs and LJ* maybe it's a sign that when I do finally get online, LJ goes on the fritz.  Although, I really can't see how me being online would effect San Fransisco.  Or, at least, I hope my being online wouldn't effect San Fran.  Maybe.  Please?

*sigh* Paid account is expiring here soon.   I rather like some of the paid features, and will be sad to see them go, but am not willing to pay more money to Six Apart right about now.  Maybe later, if witch hunts don't return.  I dunno.  We'll see.

I cut my hair.   It's much more even now, and my neck is cooler, which is good.  Unfortunately, it's now too short for a pony tail again, but I think it looks a bit neater this way.  Shall have a roommate check the back in the morning to make sure it is all nice and even back there.

Um, that's really it.  Had muffins today, as Baking Roommate had free time and energy to make the nummy ones.   I love being her taste tester.

Uh, yeah.  I'm boring.  Sorry.  But, yay! onlineness!  and yay, LJ-ness.

Subject:My Computer Says It's Break Time

So, I posted on Friday, I think it was, that my power cord was basically caput, and that it wasn't really working.  Wonders of wonders, it did actually work again after that post, and said post was henceforth deleted.  Well, power cord is dead, again, and seems to be staying that way. Curses.  I have ordered a new one, which might be here tomorrow at the earliest (please, oh please let this be so), or Friday at the lastest.  *sigh*  I'll try to scan some things on flist, but as I currently have less than half an hour on my laptop, I would greatly appreciate it if you would link me to things you want me to see here.

*hugs*  Thank you all!  Hopefully I'll be back soon.

Ask me a question, or a few questions.  Any question.  If I don't know the answer, I will try to find out.  I promise not to lie, but do retain my right to not answer anything too personal (like, uh, damn.  I can't think of anything right now.  Oh well, I'm sure there's something. maybe just my phone number; who knows).

So, shoo all ready!  Ask me!

Subject:Randomness and WTF

Today was a good day.  My mother called and altered me that there are ripe Marionberries, blackberries, and currants just waiting for a willing stomach out at my Uncle Ray's place.  Well, it's not my house, nor my mother's, so I called my cousin Roger who has been taking care of the house, getting it ready for market (some of you may recall that my Uncle Ray passed on earlier in the year).  In the course of arranging for my roommate(s) and I to head over that way Wednesday or Thursday, I was invited to dinner.  Now, cousin Roger is technically my first cousin once removed, being the first cousin to my mother, and I've only really started to get to know him this past year.  I've been to his house a couple of times, but only for big family gatherings (you know, the type with more than twenty people all sitting around talking and eating, brought together because the weather is nice or something.  ok, so it's usually more like a birthday, a going away party, or a graduation celebration, but still).  I headed out there and was greeted not by Roger's son Adam (who graduated high school just a few weeks ago), but rather a random female that I guess they know from church, who is about Adam's age (I think).

It was an interesting, if simple, dinner.  Adam was rather quiet, I thought, but that's not really strange for this family.  Apparently, he's at that stage where he'd rather be in his room than out socializing with family.  Yeah, like I have no idea what that's like.  Dessert was the Marionberries and Blackberries, over angel food cake.  This is why going over today to pick berries wasn't possible; they had already been cleaned off by my mother and Roger.  Oh well, it's not like a day or so wait is going to kill me.  I mentioned having gone to A Night of Improv, and they were rather shocked.  Apparently, not only have they watched and liked the show, they rather consider the WL cast their heroes.  Well, um, ok.  Roger apparently likes Kathy Greenwood the best.  I personally believe that it's just because he's straight and she's the only female contestant for most of the seasons.  Before I left, they gave me a gallon bag of cherries (from one of the trees around), and I lent them my WL dvd's.  *sob*  I has no whose line right now.  It feels so, wrong.

Well, came home and shared cherries with my roommate that likes to bake (other one was busy climbing and jumping off the roof; something about too much energy).  She decided, at about quarter to nine in the evening, that it would be wonderful if we could make vegan tarts.  Of course, to make said vegan tarts, we first had to find a recipe.  And then go the store.  And buy hazelnut flour (I have no idea why this is important, but it apparently is).  While waiting for her to pick out the flour she wanted, I spotted, of all things, beet powder.

Now, I don't know if any of you have ever seen beet powder before.  If you haven't, it's hard to appreciate the colour, and the opacity of such a thing.  Mainly, I just liked the colour and was tempted (extremely tempted) to buy some to put in a glass jar in the kitchen, just because.  And then it hit me:  I can use this in Red Velvet Cake.  The thing about Red Velvet cake is that it typically shown today as a vibrant red, which is incredibly hard to reproduce.  Originally, the red tint to the cake came from using non-dutch processed cocoa powder and vinegar, which has since been recreated (and enhanced) mainly by red food colouring.  A LOT of red food colouring.  However, some chefs prefer to use beets to get the same colour, and this is what I'm thinking about trying.  All else, it would make for a rather interesting conversation with my older relatives.

So, day was going all right.  It was interesting, and filled with fruits.  And then I came home, watched the Colbert Report, and learned about this.  The Science of Gaydar.  Rather than being about our brains, and how they pick out random things from the aether, this is about physical traits that have a higher correlation of appearing when a person is gay.  You know, like the old adage about the fingers (in which a gay man would have a longer index female, while a gay ("butch", they clarified) female would have a longer ring finger) and other such things.  The interview itself on the Colbert Report rubbed me all kinds of wrong, but the article itself is slightly less offensive, I find.  The main thrust appears to be expounding on the believe that there are physical traits that can identify someone as a homosexual, as being homosexual is genetic.  Everything from finger prints to voice pitch to hair whorls, it seems, can give a person away.  I'm about as enthused about this as I was when I read about the doctor who said that women have no sexual orientation.

I am not convinced.  Perhaps is just that I like believing that some things can't be scientifically explained away, but really.  Correlation is not causation, and until something can be completely proved (not that I really understand why they're trying to prove this in the first place), I think I'm going to go back to pretending that this never happened and that there aren't going to a whole lot of people checking out people's hair and finger lengths after this.

Subject:I can update, truly

I haven't been up to much since Saturday and the WL guys (which I still am rather jazzed about).  Let's see, Sunday (Father's Day), I made a cake and called my father and step-father.  Actually visited the latter on Monday (would have visited the Father as well, but is rather difficult as he is on other side of country), and spent the night down there, which was nice.  It's rather interesting to try and sleep without a cat on the bed, as I've gotten rather used to it, and to having my movements hindered by said animal (who is currently by my feet, pinning more than half the blankets down, the bastard).  Came back home on Tuesday, and did some pokey stuff, made cookies, watched movies, whole thing of funness.

Movies I Watched Recently:

Cut, because there are 8 of them and my (short) thoughts )

That's it for movies, really.  Although, I am acquiring more here soon, so yay more things to watch.  Have looked at craigslist more than I usually do, and found a cabin (for rent?) listed for a dollar.  Of course, said cabin is attached to the same land as the one the owner lives in, is only one room, has an outhouse and a lake at the bottom of the driveway, as well as being at least thirty miles outside of the city (not so bad, except that only around 20 of these are paved miles).  Then there's the place for rent (which has been posted every single day for the past week) which is something like $300 a month, internet and utilities all ready paid.  House has a pool, and a jacuzzi.  Draw back?  The person renting the "room" would have to live there with three guys, ages 22-42.  And I get the feeling that they're really looking for a female.  Yeah, uh, no.

*shrugs* As you can see, I'm really quite boring at the moment, which is why I haven't been updating really.  Alas.  Well, maybe the nice summer air will inspire me.

Subject:Ok, so maybe Myspace is good for something afterall

So, I have a myspace that I hardly ever use because really, what's the point?  Well, on early sunday morning I left a comment on Greg Proop's myspace page, mentioning how the show rocked, I love his audibleproops, and would he please consider running for President?

This morning I awoke with an e-mail telling me that he and left me a comment on my myspace page.

Ok, so it's only eight words long.  The point is that he was there, and he commented, and called me baby.

Really, he did.  See for yourself.

I love myspace so much more now than I ever have before.

OMG! I went to A Night of Improv, and it was AMAZING!  Just as I hoped.

More details later.  But there was slash!  And love!  and songs!  and yeah.  I took like, 8 pages of notes (my handwriting is horrid), and reminded Ryan and Chip about Father's day (Ryan had forgotten all about it).  THEY ALL HUGGED ME! OMG!  Sorry, still in squeeing mode, as had to behave in front of them and family.

Will type up notes and post them to slash com post haste.

It was wonderful.

So, I have cleared the interests section of my profile.  There was nothing particularly bad there, but I don't know what exactly the vigilante group is looking for, so better safe than sorry.  In the mean time, someone should clearly explain the difference between "fandom" and "real life" to these fuckers.  In small words.  Maybe with a big stick.
